			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(Sunbury, PA)&#8211; Weis Markets today announced it will open its new 62,000-square-foot flagship superstore in Spring Township near Bellefonte on Sunday, February 26 at 7am.   The superstore replaces Weis Markets’ Bellefonte store, which closes on Saturday February 25 at 6pm.</p>
<p>As part of its Grand Opening celebration, Weis Markets will donate $22,000 to twelve local charities including Centre Volunteers for Medicine, Faith Centre Food Bank, Bellefonte High School Band Boosters, the Centre County 4H Club and local volunteer fire companies.</p>
<p>Weis Markets’ new store will contain larger perishable departments, a 35-seat café selling beer for takeout and on premise consumption, more variety and selection in every department, a full service pharmacy and a fuel center.</p>
<p>Construction of the store located on PA Rt. 550/Zion Road began in September 2010.   The overall project cost is more than $20 million.  This total includes more than $2 million for road improvements near the site including: a traffic signal and turning lanes off Exit 83 from Interstate 99, extensive repairs and improvements to PA Rt. 550/Zion Road, road widening and an improved storm water management system.</p>
<p>Weis Markets’ new store will incorporate advanced refrigeration technologies to reduce refrigerant emissions by 60%, decreasing its impact on the ozone layer and climate change.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>(Sunbury PA) &#8211; </strong>Weis Markets<strong> </strong>today announced it has joined the SmartWay<strong><sup>®</sup></strong> Transport Partnership, an innovative U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program, that will help it assess the environmental and energy efficiency of the trucks supplying its 161 stores.</p>
<p>Weis Markets currently operates and maintains 131 tractors and 420 trailers, which supply the company’s stores from its 1.1 million square-foot distribution center in Milton, Pennsylvania.  In recent years, it has incorporated a number of conservation measures and technologies into its fleet management and operations, including fuel conservation and right-size load programs; routing software designed to reduce overall mileage and idling times; aerodynamic side skirts on new trailers that are designed to improve fuel efficiency and fuel efficient tires.</p>
<p>“We are pleased to be working with EPA&#8217;s SmartWay Transport Program,” said Joe Kleman, Weis Markets’ Vice President of Distribution. “In recent years, we’ve made considerable progress reducing our fuel consumption and improving the overall efficiency of our truck fleet.  The Smartway program will enhance our efforts and offer us insights on emerging programs and technologies that will help us build on our progress.  Ultimately, we believe this will help us reduce our carbon footprint, conserve fuel and reduce our costs – it’s good for the environment and helpful to our business.”</p>
<p><strong>ABOUT SMARTWAY TRANSPORT PROGRAM</strong><strong></strong></p>
<p>EPA in close cooperation with industry stakeholders, environmental groups, American Trucking Associations and Business for Social Responsibility, helped develop and launch the SmartWay Transport Program in 2004.  Partners rely upon SmartWay tools and approaches to track and reduce emissions and fuel use from goods movement.  The Partnership currently has over 3000 Partners.</p>
<p>Since 2004, SmartWay has helped its 3,000 partners conserve 1.5 billion gallons of fuel while achieving $3.6 billion in lower fuel costs.  This reduced usage has prevented 14.7 MMT of carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2</sub>), 215,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NO<sub>x</sub>) and 8,000 tons of particulate matter from being released into the environment.  Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog.</p>

<p>Weis Quality Non-Stick Olive Oil Cooking Spray<br />
1 Weis Quality Pizza Dough<br />
1 cup Weis Quality Pizza Sauce<br />
8 ounces Weis Quality Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese<br />
3 cups of your favorite toppings<br />
(tomatoes, mushrooms, turkey pepperoni, bell peppers or broccoli)<br />
Grated parmesan cheese &amp; dried oregano (optional garnishes)</p>

<li>With the help of an adult, PREHEAT oven to 425°F.</li>
<li>SPRAY a 12-inch round pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray.</li>
<li>STRETCH dough into a heart shape and PLACE onto pan. SPREAD sauce evenly over dough.</li>
<li>ADD the shredded cheese and TOP with desired toppings. SPRINKLE with oregano and Parmesan cheese.</li>
<li>BAKE for 15-20 minutes or until crust is browned and cheese is bubbly. SLICE and SERVE with a fresh green salad.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(Sunbury, PA) – Weis Markets, Inc. today announced it has lowered the prices on 1,700 staple items and that it will freeze the prices of these products for 90 days through April 2, 2011.  It is the Company’s eighth 90-day Price Freeze since 2009.</p>
<p>“Our 90 Day Price Freeze program continues to make sense, particularly with food inflation being a factor in a number of key categories,” said Kurt Schertle, Weis Markets Senior Vice President, Sales and Merchandising. “We’ve been able to minimize its impact through special long term buys that will result in real savings for our customers.  Our prize freeze savings are significant.  Over the past three years, our Price Freeze program has collectively saved our customers more than $35 million.”</p>
<p>Weis Markets’ current Price Freeze program includes 1,700 brand-name and private brand products in grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, health, beauty care and general merchandise.</p>
<p>The current Price Freeze premiered in Weis Markets’ January 8 circular, radio and billboard advertisements.  In stores, customers will see Price Freeze signage and shelf tags for participating items.</p>
