Spice Rubbed Roasted Turkey
Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 3 hours 30 minutes Makes 12 servings. Enjoy a delicious Roasted Turkey simply by rubbing this flavorful seasoning mixture all over turkey. It produces a turkey with crisp, golden-brown skin and incredibly moist and tender breast meat.
Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey (12 t Fresh or frozen, thawed
- 1 tbs Weis Quality Vegetable Oil
- 2 tbs Sage, rubbed
- 2 tbs Rosemary
- 1 tbs Weis Quality Salt
- 2 tsp Weis Quality Paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp Weis Quality Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Weis Quality Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 cup Water
Instructions
If using a frozen turkey, begin thawing the turkey in the refrigerator 2 to 3 days before roasting.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Place turkey on rack in shallow roasting pan. Brush turkey with oil. Mix seasonings in small bowl. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the seasoning mixture inside turkey. Spread remaining seasoning mixture over entire surface and under skin of turkey. Add 1/2 cup water to pan. Cover loosely with heavy duty foil.
Roast 1 hour. Remove foil. Roast 2 to 2 1/2 hours longer or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (175°F in thigh), basting occasionally with pan juices. Remove turkey from oven. Let stand 20 minutes. Transfer to platter or carving board and slice. Reserve pan juices to make gravy or to serve with turkey.
