(Binghamton, New York) – Weis Markets today presented a corporate donation of $14,000 to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) and the Broome Council of Churches, CHOW’s parent organization, as part of its Fight Hunger campaign.
Weis Markets’ Regional Vice President Brad Kochenour presented the $14,000 donation at the company’s Endicott store to Rev. Dr. Joe Sellepack, Executive Director of the Broome Council of Churches.
In addition to the corporate donation, Weis Markets’ Southern Tier customers made $24,828 in donations to local hunger organizations in the Southern Tier during the company’s four week Fight Hunger campaign.
“During our Fight Hunger campaign, we combined with our customers to donate nearly $39,000 to a local hunger organization serving 60 food pantries, soup kitchens and community meal programs in the Southern Tier,” said Brad Kochenour, Weis Markets’ Regional Vice President. “These combined donations are expected to generate approximately 31,200 meals. We are grateful to our Southern Tier customers who generated the highest donation totals in our five state market area. We’re pleased to be able to supplement their generosity with our own corporate donation.”
“We are thankful to both Weis Markets and its customers for their generous support,” said Rev. Dr. Joe Sellepack, Executive Director of the Broome Council of Churches. “Weis Markets continues to be a year round partner of CHOW and was also a strong supporter of CHOW’s emergency flood efforts in September. We truly appreciate their strong support and the support of their customers – particularly during the holidays when demand surges.”
