Weis Markets Raises $100K for Haiti; Donates Additional $25K

(Sunbury, PA) – Weis Markets customers donated $106,352 to the Red Cross’s Haitian Relief and Development Fund through an in-store giving program in its five-state market area.  The Company also announced it has made a $25,000 corporate donation to the same Red Cross fund.

Altogether, Weis Markets and its associates have helped raise or donate $131,352 for victims of Haiti’s recent earthquake.

Weis Markets stores accepted customer donations on behalf of the American Red Cross though early February.  Customers made donations by adding to their grocery bills at checkout or at the customer courtesy desk.  This option was available to customers paying with cash, check, and credit or debit cards. 

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 165 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey and West Virginia.
