Are you eligible?
Vaccinations are available for those ages three and up. Most Weis Pharmacies vaccinate COVID vaccines ages 5+. Pharmacies that vaccinate ages 3+ can be found here.
Most COVID-19 Vaccine Recipients Can Get Booster Shots. Stay protected this Fall with the new bivalent boosters to help protect against the newest COVID-19 variants.
- Patients 5 and up who received a primary series of Pfizer vaccine should have a booster 5 months after the primary series.Â
- Patients 12 and up can receive a bivalent booster as long as their primary series is completed and/or any boosters were given 2 months ago or earlier.
- All Pharmacies have Pfizer and Moderna available for most ages. There are limited pharmacies with Novavax vaccine available. Pharmacies with Novavax are available here.

- J&J and Novavax -> Mon-Sat
- Moderna -> Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
- Pfizer ->Â Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Choosing Your COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Shot
Pfizer (ages 12+) and Moderna (ages 18+) are available for bivalent boosters. Bivalent boosters help to best protect you from the latest variants of COVID-19.
Currently, Pfizer bivalent boosters are available in all Weis Pharmacy locations. Moderna bivalent boosters are only currently available in the locations shown here. We expect all pharmacies to have Moderna bivalent boosters by October.
What You Need To Know:
- CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, including all primary series doses and boosters for their age group:
- People ages 6 months through 4 years should get all COVID-19 primary series doses.
- People ages 5 years and older should get all primary series does, and the booster does recommended for them by the CDC, if eligible
- People ages 5 years to 11 years are currently recommended to get the original (monovalent) booster.Â
- People ages 12 years and older are recommended to receive one updated Pfizer or Moderna (bivalent) booster.
- This includes people who have received all primary series does and people who have previously received one or more original (monovalent) boosters.
- At this time, people aged 12 years to 17 years can only receive the updated Pfizer bivalent booster.
- Getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 infection provides added protection against COVID-19.
- People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised have different recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters.
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster recommendations may be updated as CDC continues to monitor the latest data.

What Oral Antivirals Are Available for Treatment of COVID-19?
In the United States, there are two oral antiviral medications with emergency use authorizations (EUA) from the FDA for treatment of COVID-19. Medications need to be dispensed within 5 days of symptom onset. Please visit the webpages below for complete information about these products including possible side effects.
Am I Eligible to Receive Oral Antivirals?
You may be eligible for molnupiravir if you are an adult who has tested positive for COVID-19 and:
- have mild-to-moderate COVID-19 symptoms
- are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death, and
You may be eligible for Paxlovid if you are an adult or pediatric individual (12+ years of age and weighing at least 40 kg [88 pounds]) who has tested positive for COVID-19 and:
- have mild-to-moderate COVID-19 symptoms
- are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death, and
High-risk reasons for more serious symptoms include:
- Age ≥ 65 years
- Obesity or being overweight based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention clinical growth charts
- Chronic kidney disease
- Diabetes
- Immunosuppressive disease or immunosuppressive treatment
- Heart or circulatory conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, and possibly high blood pressure
- Chronic lung diseases including COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension
- Sickle cell disease
- Neurodevelopmental disorders such as cerebral palsy
- Having a medical device
How Are Oral Antivirals Administered?
Molnupiravir is administered as 4 capsules every 12 hours for 5 days. It is important that patients complete the full 5 days of treatment with molnupiravir, even if they feel better.
Paxlovid consists of 2 medicines: nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. Patients should take 2 tablets of nirmatrelvir (150 mg) with 1 tablet of ritonavir (100 mg) by mouth twice daily (in the morning and in the evening) for 5 days. For each dose, all 3 tablets should be taken at the same time.

What Are the Side Effects of Oral Antivirals?
Common side effects of molnupiravir are diarrhea, nausea, and dizziness.

Paxlovid is contraindicated in patients with a history of clinically significant hypersensitivity reactions [e.g., toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) or Stevens-Johnson syndrome] to its active ingredients (nirmatrelvir or ritonavir) or any other components of the product.
Potential side effects of Paxlovid include, but are not limited to:
- Liver problems
- Signs and symptoms of liver problems include loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice), dark-colored urine, pale-colored stools and itchy skin, or stomach area (abdominal) pain
- Resistance to HIV Medicines
- Altered sense of taste
- Diarrhea
- High blood pressure
- Muscle aches
