Weis Markets Holds Grand Opening For New Flanders, NJ Store
Wednesday, February 26th, 2014
Company will donate $10,000 to local community organizations
Weis Markets will celebrate the grand opening of the company’s new Flanders store on Sunday, March 2. To kick off the celebration, Weis associates and area dignitaries will be on hand to give $10,000 to Flanders community organizations, including Mt. Olive High School, Mt. Olive Food Pantry, Flanders Fire Department, Flanders Rescue Squad, Budd Lake Fire Department, Mt. Olive Park Project and more.
The 58,500-square foot supermarket is located in the Sutton Plaza shopping center at 293 U.S. Highway 206. The new Weis Markets will feature expansive fresh departments, including a large produce department with a great selection of organic fruits and vegetables, as well as a full-service pharmacy. This is the fifth Weis Markets to open in New Jersey.
The store also includes advanced refrigeration and climate control technologies designed to lessen the store’s impact on the environment and global warming. These technologies will reduce the store’s refrigerant usage by 60 percent compared to a conventional supermarket. As a result, it is expected to achieve the U.S. EPA’s GreenChill Gold-Level Certification.
As part of the Grand Opening, the store is dropping off 2,000 bags of free groceries within a 2-mile radius of the store. The bags contain $20 worth of Weis brand groceries along with valuable coupons.
