Donation generated by in-store customer donations and a company contribution
SUNBURY, PA (March 16, 2023) – Weis Markets today announced it has donated $425,000 to the American Heart Association's Life is Why program, a movement supporting the Association’s life-saving heart and brain health mission. This donation was generated through in-store customer donations in January and February and a company contribution.
The donation will support the American Heart Association’s efforts to raise awareness for priority issues which impact heart disease and stroke risk factors, including tobacco use and vaping, high blood pressure, CPR, and nutrition insecurity, as well as mental resilience.
“Weis Markets and its customers have worked together to donate more than $2.4 million to the American Heart Association since we first partnered with the organization in 2019,” said Weis Markets Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Maria Rizzo. “We are proud to support their life-saving work.”
“The support of key leaders and associates from Weis Markets has been exceptional,” said American Heart Association Regional Vice President Ashley Schade. “This support allows the American Heart Association to fund investments in cardiovascular research, improve patient outcomes, advocate for policies that promote community health and educate people about healthy living.”
