WEIS MARKETS TO JOIN WITH CUSTOMERS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL DAY OF GIVING
Each Weis Markets’ store will match customer donations for a local nonprofit with its own donation
Sunbury, PA (November 25, 2020) – Weis Markets today announced it will join with customers to support local nonprofits during the National Day of Giving on Tuesday, December 2. Each Weis location will match customer donations with a $500 donation.
Customers are invited to donate to a local nonprofit, chosen by the associates at each store location, by adding $1, $3, $5 or $10 when they check out at registers, or by rounding up their grocery bill.
“This is a time of quiet desperation for many non-profits. Demand has soared while donations have declined due to the pandemic and resulting economic dislocation. Our CEO Jonathan Weis, his family and our company’s associates have been long committed to the communities where we operate,” said Ron Bonacci, Weis Markets Vice President of Advertising and Marketing. “We’re delighted to partner with our customers to provide this support, and we’re proud of the many associates who support and volunteer for charitable organizations in their communities.”
More than 150 local non-profits are participating in Weis’s day of giving program. The local organizations chosen by Weis locations are primarily food pantries, emergency shelter services and animal rescue organizations. In addition to the local store donations, Weis is distributing $10,000 donations to several non-profit partners throughout the company’s footprint.
