Customer generosity benefits 128 local pet shelters and rescue groups during National Pet Month.
Sunbury, PA (June 21, 2024) – Weis Markets today announced its stores and associates have raised $228,000 for 128 local pet shelters and rescue organizations during its sixteenth annual Paws for Pets program.
This total includes customer donations, a Weis Markets’ corporate contribution, and matching donations from Rachael Ray Nutrish, Nestle Purina One, 9Lives, Blue Buffalo and Clorox.
During the four-week program in May, which is also National Pet Month, customers generously donated at self-checkouts by rounding up their purchases or donating $1, $3, $5 or $10. The proceeds are donated to pet shelters and rescue organizations selected by individual stores.
“We’re proud of our customers, associates and suppliers who continue to support and generously donate to pet rescue organizations throughout our seven-state market area,” said Weis Markets Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Maria Rizzo. “These donations are timely and extremely helpful since spring is a high-demand time of year for pet shelters and rescues.”
Chainwide leaders include Weis Markets’ store in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which raised $1,900 for Peaceable Kingdom Animal Rescue in Whitehall, while its Brunswick, Maryland store raised $1,800 for Purr Heaven in Rohrersville, MD.
